Dr. Valins, Dr. Penney, and Staff,
My visits to your office this past year were refreshing. I have never - and I mean this, never been treated so well... anywhere.
You have created an atmosphere of caring while maintaining a "lightness" - a good feeling, ...a feeling that these people truly care.
In your next careers you should do PR for doctors' offices.
Sincere thanks also for my orthotics - they have made a huge difference in my lifestyle - so much so that I was able to walk around Paris - that ability was in doubt until you "fixed" me.

When I was referred to Dr. Nathan Penney in 2010, I had been through so much misery after being hit head-on by a drunk driver in 1996. The night of my car crash a decision was made to try to save my foot from amputation. This required an initial year of physical therapy and multiple surgeries before I could walk again without a walker or cane. I had some other followup surgeries but there came a time in 2007 when I could no longer deal with the daily pain and limping. I could not keep working like that so I opted for a total ankle replacement (the old kind, not the great new one Dr. Penney can do!) That surgery failed miserably and I was limping worse than ever before. When I met Dr. Penney in 2010, I had been in an ankle brace since the 2007 ankle replacement and my right foot was 2 1/2 sizes bigger than my left. I have been buying 2 pairs of shoes in different sizes to deal with it.
Dr. Penney performed 2 surgeries in 2010. The first was a risky surgery to remove the ankle replacement and to fuse my foot. Dr. Penney prepared me for the worst but gave me hope for the best. The second surgery would correct an awful case of hammertoes and the usual dropped position of my midfoot. If he could not correct this, it would've been impossible to get a shoe on. As I write this today, I had my first pedicure since 2007. I am enjoying buying shoes in the same size and I am loosing the 60 pounds I had gained because I am becoming more active again and motivated to eat right. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Penney. He is the most attentive and carrying doctor! You could not ask for better! He gave me my life back and a permanent solution. I was able to go back to work full-time for the first time since the accident in 1996. If you are lucky enough to have Dr. Penney as your doctor, you are truly blessed! And the office staff are so helpful in every way!

I was referred to Dr. Valins by my primary care physician, for a wound on my foot that was not healing. Prior to my first visit, I "googled" Dr. Valins and was pleasantly surprised to learn that he attended Podiatry School in my hometown of Philadelphia PA.. I feel good about going to see a "hometown" doctor.Needless to say I was not disappointed by the care given by Dr. Valins, and the help of his great staff. Dr. Valins was able to immediately take the necessary procedure to start my wound to heal.
I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Dr. Valins for any future foot problems, and would strongly recommend him to anyone that is in need of highly professional foot care.

"Two Outstanding Successful foot surgeries in one year!"
I had the misfortune of ripping the tendon on my left ankle. I had it x-rayed by another doctor and he told me there was nothing wrong. "I just needed to take aspirin." I finally decided after several months of pain to go see Drs. Valins and Penney. They did an MRI and found my tendon was badly ripped and hanging on by a thread. Dr Penney did my surgery in 2009, and Dr. Valins was in the surgery with him. Dr. Penney asked me what my goal was and I told him to get back into my high heels. I asked Dr. Penney what would be my recovery time and he said 4 months. He was right on to the day. I started on a foot scooter, then to a boot and finally the shoe. I did not need any of the pain medication he prescribed for me. He did a fantastic job and I knew when I left his office I would give it a couple of months and come back for him to remove the bunion on my right foot which was torturing me for years.
I did have my surgery on my right foot in October 2010. Once again I asked my recovery time and he told me a max of 6 weeks and once again he was right on.
Thank you Dr. Penney and Dr. Valins for fixing both my feet and helping me reach my goal. I will wear high heels again. I highly recommend them to everyone if you are contemplating foot surgery. You cannot go wrong with Dr. Penney and Dr. Valins.

First of all I want to give my sincere thank you to Dr. R. Valins because, if it wasn't for him I would still be walking in constant pain, which I have had for several years prior to coming to Dr. R. Valins' office. I took his advice after several visits and made an appointment with Dr. N. Penney. This was the best thing I had ever done.
He operated on my foot and in less than 2 weeks I was walking normal with no pain at all.
I cannot thank Dr. Penney enough. He is an excellent surgeon, compassionate, and as caring for all of his patients and Dr. R. Valins is with his.
Thank you to the two best doctors.
